About WVCF

The West Virginia Conservative Foundation (“WVCF”) was formed as an independent organization to help promote conservative values and policies at the federal, state, and local levels.

WVCF works to build our communities through conservative solutions, training tomorrow’s leaders, and establishing a marketplace of “new ideas.”

WVCF is committed to continuing the legacy of conservative leadership based on simple guiding ideals. As such, WVCF promotes a vision that includes several core ideas:

• Government in the United States was designed to serve the interests of the people, not the government. This means that government must realize it does not own the money it spends – that money belongs to the people, who have chosen to tax themselves and offer some of their hard earned resources to government to do very specific tasks with it. Our tax policy should reflect the limited nature of the U.S. government.

• West Virginia has must have a vibrant, effective two-party political system that is grounded in conservative ideals and individual opportunity.

• Tax policy must recognize the fundamental importance of increasing prosperity and good tax policy rewards work and does not punish it.

• Free enterprise and entrepreneurship are the cornerstones of America’s economic strength and are critical to building a more prosperous West Virginia.

• A strong national defense is critical to deter aggression.

• America has been a great nation, not because of the power and size of its government, but because of the ingenuity and value of its individual citizens.
